Hidden Homes Montana

Market Report & Martin City Fun

February 17, 2022

Well hello folks!

This is Austin Baumgarten with Keller Williams Realty Northwest Montana and Hidden Homes Montana coming to you on vlog day.

Now that we’re well into February, it’s time for our first market report of 2022. We’re going to look at the current numbers year over year in residential, land, and commercial. The other data we’re focusing on today are the cumulative days on market and number of active listings. We’ll start with the valley as a whole and then break it down by quadrant to cover Kalispell, Bigfork, Columbia Falls, and Whitefish.

Now, I don’t know if any of you have had the pleasure of attending the Barstool Races up in Martin City yet, but last Saturday we went on up to support and learn a little about the history behind this zany – yet very Montana! – event. Apparently 43 years ago some regulars drinking at the bar were challenged by an annoyed spouse to do something more athletic than just sitting on barstools drinking all day. So the gents said “hold my beer!” and attached some skis to the bottoms of those barstools and took to racing them down the street! I’d say that’s a challenge well accepted and hilariously executed!! This event has an entertaining origin story and an ongoing positive affect on the community. This fundraiser benefits the Canyon Quick Response Unit, Martin City Volunteer Fire Department, Canyon Kids Christmas Fund, the Canyon Community Group, and more!

While the next Bar Stool Race is a whole year away, there are still some fun events coming up this weekend. This Saturday at Flathead Lake Brewing Company in Bigfork the Social Hour Comedy presents a night of laughs with comedian Andrew Frank. Also on Saturday, The Glacier Chorale presents: “Enigma” at the Flathead High School Performance Hall and the Owl Prowl Ranger Program is going on down at Wayfarers State Park. Get on out and enjoy your community!

Over and Out!
